In a quest for both experimentation and intimacy, Bron creates cinematic and ethereal soundscapes that evoke the wonder and awe of being in the natural world.   Translating her earthy, gentle nature into song, Bron’s music exists between the realms of chamber pop and contemporary folk.

“Mesmerising, so pure and haunting” – soundsofoz.com

“Her enchantingly pure vocals birth a uniquely modern sound” – Indie Music Insider

Bron is the stage name of Melbourne based singer songwriter Bronwyn Rose Hicks who was raised in a special little patch of Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges surrounded by rainforest, fern gullies and berry farms. Her soaring, captivating vocals fuse effortlessly with layers of melodic string lines and spacious piano pads to create a unique sound inspired by the likes of Ruelle, Fleurie and Aurora.

Her background tells of a versatile instrumentalist and performer – playing violin in orchestras on stages as big as Melbourne’s Hamer Hall and the Melbourne Recital Centre before touring and performing at the Sydney Opera House, the Famous Spiegeltent and the Malthouse as a member of the acclaimed and innovative vocal ensemble Invenio. A stint living in Europe saw Bron jamming regularly with jazz musicians in the French Alps and Switzerland whilst completing further studies in composition at the French conservatoire of Annecy.

In 2021, Bron met and began collaborating with four-time Juno award-winning Canadian producer Glenn Lavender.  Inspired by the minimalism of artists such as Philip Glass and Ólafur Arnalds, they began recording layers of delicate strings with sparse piano, before adding ethereal vocals that tell of a reconnection with her Celtic heritage. Bron’s lyrics reflect the dualities and complexities of navigating adulthood without losing the magic, wonder and adventurous nature of the inner child. Full of mysticism, hope, courage, optimism and longing, Bron’s forthcoming cinematic debut EP is a journey of deep self-discovery and wonder.
